Kobayashi K, et al

A 69-year-old man with post-operative recurrence of lung adenocarcinoma was treated with multiple chemotherapies, including epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR)-tyrosine kinase inhibitors. A second biopsy revealed an EGFR T790M mutation. As 10th-line chemotherapy, osimertinib was initiated. After 24 weeks, chest computed tomography (CT) revealed asymptomatic ground-glass opacities in both lo…

Ames PRJ

Campath is being employed for the treatment of autoimmune haemolytic anemia (AIHA) whether or not associated to B cell chronic lymphoid leukaemia (CLL). CD5 negative CLL is relatively uncommon and runs an indolent course. We report a CD5 negative CLL patient who developed AIHA associated with cytomegalovirus infection reactivation whilst on treatment with Campath for progressive disease.

Lauro A

An adult male underwent a bowel transplant for tufting enteropathy, receiving alemtuzumab, tacrolimus, and steroids as immunosuppressants. Five years later, he developed an autoimmune hemolytic anemia (AIHA), anti-IgG positive, with reduced reticulocyte count, leukopenia, and thrombocytopenia with antiplatelet antibodies. After an unsuccessful initial treatment with high dose steroids, reductio…

Islami F

There is limited information on contemporary incidence rates and trends, by race, ethnicity, and age, for major subtypes of esophageal and gastric cancer in the United States. We examined the most recent nationwide incidence data for esophageal squamous cell carcinoma, esophageal adenocarcinoma (EAC), gastric cardia adenocarcinoma (GCA), and gastric non-cardia adenocarcinoma (GNCA) by race, et…

We read with interest the article by Karlsson et al.1 in Leukemia (2007), which reports five patients treated successfully with alemtuzumab (anti-CD52) for refractory autoimmune hemolytic anemia (AIHA) complicating B-cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia (B-CLL).

TLR2 agonism reverses chemotherapy-induced neutropenia in Macaca fascicularis
Comment Share
Laping NJ

Neutropenia is a common consequence of radiation and chemotherapy in cancer patients. The resulting immunocompromised patients become highly susceptible to potentially life-threatening infections. Granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) is known to stimulate neutrophil production and is widely used as a treatment of chemotherapy-induced neutropenia. A small-molecule G-CSF secretagogue wi…

Dwivedi P

Granulocyte colony stimulating factor (G-CSF) is a hematopoietic cytokine that stimulates neutrophil production and hematopoietic stem cell mobilization by initiating the dimerization of homodimeric granulocyte colony stimulating factor receptor (G-CSFR). Different mutations of CSF3R have been linked to a unique spectrum of myeloid disorders and related malignancies. Myeloid disorders caused by…
