Glimepiride is used as monotherapy as an adjunct to diet and exercise for the management of type 2 (noninsulindependent)
diabetes mellitus (NIDDM) in patients whose hyperglycemia cannot be controlled by diet and exercise alone.1,54 Sulfonylureas, including glimepiride, also may be used in combination with one or more other oral antidiabetic agents or insulin as an adjunct to diet and exercise for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus in patients in whom adequate glycemic control cannot be achieved with diet, exercise, and oral antidiabetic agent monotherapy
