KASL clinical practice guidelines for liver cirrhosis: Varices, hepatic encephalopathy, and related complications

are common complications in patients with cirrhosis. Although the prognosis of variceal bleeding has improved with recent advances
in diagnosis and treatment, the mortality rate remains 12–22%.
