CONTEMPORARY INITIAL ANTIBIOTIC THERAPY OF PRIMARY PLEURAL EMPYEMA


Approximately 15% of all of parapneumonic effusions progress into pleural empyema(PE). PE treatment includes evacuation of pus, re-expansion of lung along with use of antibiotics. Initial antibiotics treatment is often started with antibiotics that are resistant to causes found in microbiological isolates. Objective: definition of contemporary initial antibiotic therapy of PE which can be used until getting final microbiological results
