Fentanyl attenuates cardiovascular responses to tracheal extubation
We carried out a controlled, randomized, double-blind study to examine the cKccts of intravenous fentanyl ( I or 2 pg kg-') on hemodynamic changes during tracheal extubation and emergence from anesthesia in 60 ASA physical status I or I1 patients undergoing elective gynecological surgery. Anesthesia was maintained with 0.5'?'-1.5% isofluranc and 60Yn nitrous oxide (N,Oj in oxygen. Muscle relaxation was arhirved with vccuronium. 'I'he patients were randomly assigned to three group (earh, n=20j, and l'entanyl ( I or 2 pg kg I), or saline (as a rontrol) was given at the time of peritoneal closure
