PubMed Labs: an experimental system for improving biomedical literature search
Comment Share
Fiorini N, et al

PubMed is a freely accessible system for searching the biomedical literature, with ∼2.5 million users worldwide on an average workday. In order to better meet our users’ needs in an era of information overload, we have recently developed PubMed Labs (www.pubmed.gov/labs), an experimental system for users to test new search features/tools (e.g. Best Match) and provide feedback, which enables…

Martin MJ

Metabolic plasticity is an emerging hallmark of cancer, and increased glycolysis is often observed in transformed cells. Small molecule inhibitors that target driver oncogenes can potentially inhibit the glycolytic pathway. Osimertinib (AZD9291) is a novel EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) that is potent and selective for sensitising (EGFRm) and T790M resistance mutations.

EGFR T790M detection and osimertinib treatment response evaluation by liquid …

Li C

Lung adenocarcinoma with EGFR activating mutations will inevitably acquire resistance to first generation TKIs. Acquired EGFR T790M mutation causes about 50% of these resistance cases. Droplet digital PCR ddPCR) and cobas enables quantification of T790M mutation. Whether these methods can predict clinical response of osimertinib treatment is unknown.

Kobayashi K, et al

A 69-year-old man with post-operative recurrence of lung adenocarcinoma was treated with multiple chemotherapies, including epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR)-tyrosine kinase inhibitors. A second biopsy revealed an EGFR T790M mutation. As 10th-line chemotherapy, osimertinib was initiated. After 24 weeks, chest computed tomography (CT) revealed asymptomatic ground-glass opacities in both lo…

Huang CC

Identifying relevant papers from the literature is a common task in biocuration. Most current biomedical literature search systems primarily rely on matching user keywords. Semantic search, on the other hand, seeks to improve search accuracy by understanding the entities and contextual relations in user keywords

Kleinberger JW

Diabetes mellitus affects approximately 382 million individuals worldwide and is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality. Over 40 and nearly 80 genetic loci influencing susceptibility to type 1 and type 2 diabetes, respectively, have been identified. Additionally, there is emerging evidence that some genetic variants help to predict response to treatment. Other variants confer apparent prote…
